About Us
Welcome to the Prevent Blindness Tri-State Workplace Eye Safety Web Site
Prevent Blindness Tri-State, in partnership with its vibrant safety committee, The New Jersey Vision Council, encourages you to develop an eye health and safety awareness program in your workplace. Why is an eye health and safety program important? Consider these facts: • 2,000 eye injuries occur each day in the workplace, with at least 100 of these injuries resulting in one or more days of lost work time • 1/3 of eye injuries in the workplace require treatment in an emergency room • The cost of eye injuries in the workplace is over $300 million annually. More than 90% of all eye injuries can be prevented How can this Prevent Blindness and its network of safety experts help you through a Work Sight Program? Prevent Blindness Tri-State will collaborate with you to bring a quality eye health and safety program to your employees by providing links to the following: Eye Health and Eye Safety Information. We can provide eye health and safety information, brochures, videos etc. for your employees at discounted rates. These can be ordered through our national office’s web site. Eye Safety Training. We can help make your worksite more eye safe with employee training on the care and proper use of eye safety equipment. Our consultants have a finger on the pulse of the latest eye safety in the workplace trainings and issues. Eye Health. We can provide vision screenings for your employees to make sure that they have healthy vision. Poor vision can impact both work safety, productivity, and result in injuries, errors, and/or damages to equipment and materials. Annual Certification/Awards. We can certify that your employee eye health and safety program meets the minimum PBTS standards for eye health and safety in the workplace. Exemplary programs can be submitted for annual awards consideration. The awards ceremony takes place annually at the Mid-Atlantic Region Safety & Loss Control Expo in Atlantic City. See www.njsafety.org for details. Prevent Blindness Tri-State has as its goal to become the premiere resource for eye health and safety programs in the region. If there is any information you need please feel free to contact us at www.preventblindness.org/tristate. We look forward to becoming a partner with your company and protecting our region's workforce. Kathryn Garre Ayars |
